Eastern Railway earnings up 8.63 %

The Eastern Railway (ER) has posted a 8.63 per cent increase in its total earnings to Rs.873.44 crore during the period from April to May, 2011 as against Rs.804.06 crore earned in the corresponding period of previous year.During this period, the passenger earnings of ER was Rs 249.93 crore, while Rs.588.35 crore was earned from goods traffic, Rs.29.57 crore from other coaching and Rs.5.59 from sundry earnings.
