Exide launches battery in Ludhiana

Exide Industries Ltd, the leader in acid storage battery industry in India, has come up with a battery called Invagold Tubular. This battery is the first tubular battery in India and is specifically made for inverter applications.
Exide Industries Ltd Director (Industrial) Gautam Chatterjee launched this battery in Ludhiana.
Exide Industries Ltd has eight manufacturing plants across the country. Gautam Chatterjee informed Business Standard that with the increasing power cuts in India and constant increase in the diesel prices, more and more people were using inverters for office and home.
"As compared to generators running on diesel, inverters are very cheap. In inverters, a battery is a major constituent. Majority of the Indian population use sub standard batteries, which have a very short life, and have to be replaced every 2-3 years. Invagold Tubular battery is a solution for that,'' he added.
Differentiating between Invagold Tubular and other batteries, Chatterjee said while other batteries had a flat plate, Invagold tubular battery had a tubular plate in it.
"Moreover, tubular batteries have a clear advantage over flat plate batteries when it comes to meeting long and frequent power cuts. During prolonged power failures, tubular batteries offer high depth of discharge and recovers from deep discharge. Though our battery costs more than others, once installed it lasts at least 10 years,'' he said.
