HCL Info to market Casio cameras

Casio India Co Pvt Ltd today announced a tie-up with information enabling and integration company HCL Infosystems to market, sell and distribute Casio digital cameras in India.

"We will market, distribute and service the entire range of Casio digital cameras in the country and will initially roll out our distribution plan in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad," HCL Infosystems Vice President Marketing George Paul told reporters.

HCL would cover 10 cities by October 2006 and take the number to 25 by March 2007, he said.

"The Indian digital camera market currently stands at around Rs 250 crore and is expected to grow to Rs 1,000 crore by 2010. We were present only in select cities in the country but now would like to expand our presence and tap the potential in the market," Casio India Managing Director T Kyoden said.

The six mega-pixel and above digital cameras are priced between Rs 16,000 and Rs 30,000 and HCL is also looking to tie up with financial institutions to offer financing options to customers.
