Honda plant workers want CBI probe

BS Reporter New Delhi
A token workforce of the Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Ltd (HMSI), at Manesar in Haryana today launched a fresh protest demanding a CBI probe into the alleged manhandling of their colleagues by Haryana police two year back.

The workers are on a 'sit-in' protest near the HMSI factory at Manesar, against the clean chit given to the Haryana police by an official inquiry panel appointed by the Government that probed the 'lathi charge' on the HMSI workers in 2005.

Workers are demanded that the Justice (Retd) G C Garg inquiry committee report, which gave a clean chit to the state administration and police be scrapped and a fresh probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) be ordered.

Suresh Gaur, president, HMSI said:"We totally reject the report of the commission."

It should be discarded and a CBI probe should be ordered into the police high handedness that left many of our colleagues seriously injured."

However, despite the ongoing protest the production at the plant has not been hit and the workers both - regular and contract - are regularly taking their scheduled work shifts. They are were taking part in the sit-in protest after their duty hours.
