IDG brings PC World to India

| After launching Real CIO World and Services OutSourcing World, International Data Group (IDG), a technology information services provider, is bringing its flagship publication 'PC World' to India. Slated to be launched in July this year, the Indian edition of the monthly magazine will cost Rs 100, according to the company. The US edition costs Rs 500. |
| Announcing the plan to launch PC World in India, Patrick J McGovern, IDC founder and chairman, said that the growth of IT in India at 18 per cent was three times faster than the growth of IT industry across the world. |
| "IDG, which has over 150 million readers across the world expects at least 80,000 readers of PC World in India in the first phase," he said, adding that PC World in India will provide a usable, credible and trustworthy information to the end-user of technology and would contribute to the rapid growth of the technology industry in India. |
| According to the company, PC World India's editorial content will be based on rigorous testing of locally available products and gadgets at company's India Test Centre located in Bangalore. |
| "The company has invested over Rs 5 million for the PC World India test centre, which will use the in-house software of IDG to test, evaluate technology products and provide unbiased reviews to assist the readers take informed decision while going for a product," said N Bringi Dev, president, IDG India. |
| IDG, which clocked $2.65 billion revenues in calender 2005, is planning to invest $20 million in the ongoing year towards new media products and infrastructure. Patrick said that in the next three-four years, the company was meditating to bring at least 10 new products to the market. |
| The US edition of PC World has a readership of over 5.2 million in the US. IDG India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of IDG, was incorporated in 2004 and is now present apart from its headquarters in Bangalore, in Mumbai and New Delhi. |
