Khaitan & Co to do legal due diligence for angel investors

Leading solicitor firm Khaitan & Co is in talks with angel investors to carry out the legal due diligence required for their transactions.

"We are in touch with the angel investors for carrying out the legal due diligence of their investments in start-ups," N G Khaitan, partner, Khaitan & Co told PTI.

Khaitan said that the solicitor firm had established its position in the private equity (PE) space. "We have done legal due diligence for a plethora of private equity transactions in India", he said.

He said that in the last 10 years, USD 50 billion worth of PE funds across 3000 transactions had come to the country.
 

Khaitan said that West Bengal's receipt of PE had been very small compared to the others parts of the country. "This has been largely due to the negative perception of the state and lack of entrepreneurial spirit".

"If the state could create a positive image, the PE (money) is bound to come", he said.
