Mainetti opens Sriperumbudur hanger facility

Garment hanger manufacturer Mainetti Group has opened its 29,000-sft manufacturing facility at Sriperumbudur near Chennai at an investment of Rs 35 crore.
The facility will be situated on 9 acres with prospects for further capacity expansion. Sanjeev Kumar, regional managing director, Mainetti, said the facility, which can manufacture 300 million hangers a year, would expand the group's production capacity in India by 50 per cent.
"The investments in the facility are with a vision to extend our reach globally and strengthen our market presence to grow and leverage our distribution capabilities," Rajesh Menon, vice-president - marketing, Mainetti India, said.
According to earlier statements by company officials, the facility will start off with 150 people and staff intake will depend on how the company's downstream operations fare.
This will be Mainetti India's largest manufacturing facility with a distribution centre for its products as well as a well-stocked hanger library displaying the entire product range the company manufactures worldwide.
Mainetti India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mainetti Group of companies, which employs over 4,000 people in 40 countries. About 20 per cent of Mainetti's 22 million euro turnover worldwide in 2006-07 was realised from exports to North and Central American markets.
The Mainetti Group produces 6 billion hangers annually catering to large and mid-sized garments and accessory retailers and manufacturers. Its facilities at Shenzhen and Shanghai have a combined capacity of one billion hangers per year.
Mainetti now plans to address the need for hanger displays across all retailer segments in the country.
The company's customer base in India includes Shopper's Stop, Lifestyle, Max, Pantaloon, Big Bazaar, Spencer's and Reliance Mart.
