Maruti Raises Omni, Esteem, 800 Prices

BUSINESS STANDARD

Maruti Udyog Ltd, the country's largest car maker, today hiked prices of its Maruti 800, Omni van and Esteem models.

However, the company has spared its B-segment models Alto, Zen and Wagon R and the mid-sized Baleno, Altura as well as the MPV Versa from its third price revision exercise this fiscal.

"Prices of select models have been revised upwards by between 0.85 per cent to 3.87 per cent with effect from today," a Maruti statement said.

While the price of the Maruti 800 Standard variant has been increased by Rs 3,753 to Rs 2.21 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the EX variant will cost Rs 8,677 dearer at Rs 2.52 lakh. Maruti 800 DLX will cost Rs 2.73 lakh, up Rs 8,835.

The company has increased the price of the Omni 5-seater variant by Rs 2,307 to Rs 2.26 lakh. Prices of the two Esteem variants -- LX and VX have increased Rs 4,161 and Rs 4,696 to Rs 4.95 lakh and Rs 5.44 lakh, respectively, the statement said.

Maruti said the latest price hike, the company's third this fiscal, has been kept to the minimum, despite mounting input costs and a depreciating rupee. The company has instead implemented various steps to cut costs and boost quality.
