MICO to roll-out CRD injectors soon

Tushar Pawar Mumbai/ Nashik
Motor Industries Company Ltd (MICO), the Indian subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, a global leader in automotive and industrial technology, is planning to roll out the complete sets of Common Rail Diesel Injectors (CRDi) at its Nashik facility in the next one or two months.

The total project cost from manufacturing of CRDi components to the production of the complete sets of the CRD injectors is around Rs 550 crore.

MICO had signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government for CRD injectors project at its Nashik facitlity, in November 2005. The first phase of the project, which includes manufacturing of CRDi components, has already been completed.

The company is presently manufacturing around 6,000 CRDi component sets per day. Now, the company has geared to roll out the complete sets of CRDi injectors from its Nashik facility in the next one or two months, sources said.

Fuel injectors are the main components of the common rail diesel system (CRS), a technology, which gives engine developers the freedom they need to reduce exhaust emissions even further and cut down engine noise.

In order to comply with stricter emission norms, new vehicles will need to be equipped with electronically controlled fuel injection systems like CRS.

With the implementation of new emission norms in India with effect from April 1, 2005, the market has to meet the Bharat Stage III (BS III) Standards. BS III is the Indian equivalents of Euro III. To reap the benefits this opportunity opens up, Bosch has introduced the 4th generation CRS.

MICO's Nashik facility, which has the built-up area of 67,000 sq metres, produces high quality injectors and nozzles for diesel engines of all types and applications.
