MRF, Pennar, Uttam Galva, Prithvi Info Q3 results

MRF net up 108 per cent
 
Tyremaker MRF has reported a growth of 108 per cent in its net profit at Rs 28.96 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, against Rs 13.92 crore in the corresponding period in the previous financial year.
 
The growth in profit is owing to better realisations on the back of higher product prices. Net sales of the the company grew by 29 per cent to Rs 1,207.93 crore.
 
The company reported a net profit of Rs 79.91 crore and net sales of Rs 4,248.31 crore in previous accounting year ended September 30, 2006, compared with a net profit of Rs 40.31 crore and net sales of Rs 3,482.09 crore in the previous fiscal.
 
Pennar bottom line rises 133%
 
Pennar Industries posted 133 per cent rise in the net profit at Rs 6.76 crore for the quarter ended December 2006 compared with Rs 2.9 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The company's sales increased to Rs 144.34 crore from Rs 118.96 crore.
 
The company's fourth manufacturing facility in Chennai is nearing completion and the first phase of production is expected to commence in March.
 
The company has also entered into agreements with cement manufacturing companies, F L Smidth of Denmark and Hammon Research & Cotrell of Belgium, for export of electrostatic precipitator electrodes.
 
Prithvi Info posts 63% rise in net profit
 
Prithvi Information Solutions has posted 62.87 per cent rise in the net profit at Rs 23.37 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 14.35 crore for the same period last year.
 
Net income during the quarter under review increased 71.09 per cent at Rs 199.35 crore from Rs 116.52 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year.
 
Earnings per share stood at Rs 12.93 against Rs 7.94 in the third quarter of the last financial year. "We see our margins increasing due to lower costs from our new offshore facility at Hyderabad," company's managing director, V Satish Kumar, said.
 
Uttam Galva reports 35% rise in net
 
Uttam Galva Steels reported 35 per cent rise in the net profit for the third quarter ended December 2006 on improved product-mix, increase in capacity and volume of value-added products.
 
The company, which produces galvanised steel and cold-rolled steel products, reported a net profit of Rs 22.63 crore in the October-December quarter.
