MRPL Q4 net jumps 24% on lower tax liability

The higher net profit was primarily due to lesser taxes paid during the quarter. The company's tax liability fell 72.10 per cent at Rs 83.64 crore (Rs 299.82 crore). Profit before tax during the quarter was 35.85 per cent lower at 308.99 crore (Rs 481.70 crore).

Turnover rose 39.74 per cent to Rs 10,812 crore (Rs 7,737 crore), the company said.

 

During FY08, net profit increased to Rs 1,272 crore, up 142 per cent, from Rs 525 crore recorded in the previous year. The higher profit came on the back of higher capacity utilisation of 130 per cent, and its turnover rising 14 per cent to Rs 37,339 crore (Rs 32,208 crore). Tax liability during the year fell 18.12 per cent to Rs 461 crore (Rs 563 crore).

During the year, the company's crude oil thruput also rose marginally to 12.55 million tonne (12.53 million tonne).

Share price of the company fell 1.96 per cent to Rs 102.65 on the BSE today, even as the Sensex fell 0.19 per cent to 17,339.31.
