Muthoot murder: Two wanted men surrender

Omprakash and Rajesh, two men with a criminal record whom the police were seeking for alleged involvement in last month’s murder here of business magnate Paul Muthoot George, surrendered today before a magistrate at Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.
The Kerala police had issued a lookout notice for the two, whose role in the murder is still unclear. The police say they travelled with Muthoot in the same car on the night he was killed in the vehicle, but the sequence of events is unclear. The magistrate remanded both to 14 days in prison.
Their advocate told journalists they had not surrendered in connection with the Muthoot case but in another one for which the Kerala police had issued an arrest warrant.
The police here will soon file an application before the court to get the two under their custody for further investigation in the Muthoot case.
So far, 21 persons have been arrested in connection with the Muthoot murder, which was on the night of August 21. Paul M George, was son of M G George Muthoot, chairman of the Rs 20,000-crore Muthoot M George group. He was heading the group’s hospitality and tourism division.
