Orchid net slumps 31% to Rs 5.76 cr

The Chennai-based Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals has reported a 31.42 per cent fall in fall in net profit to Rs 5.76 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2004.

The company's turnover fell marginally to Rs 172.25 crore for the third quarter in 2004-05 compared with Rs 172.86 crore for the same period the previous year.

Depreciation charges increased by 20.80 per cent to Rs 15.56 crore for the third quarter in 2004-05. Orchid had increased its stake to 75 per cent from the earlier level of 50 per cent in its US-based research joint venture, Bexel.
