Pentair Water to set up two units in India

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Engineering firm, Pentair Water today said it is looking to set up two manufacturing units, one each in Uttarakhand and Maharashtra for producing pumps and other components for water purification.

"Awareness for water in India is rising and to give a further push to our business in the country, we are planning to set up two plants in the country," Pentair India Country Head Mukund Vasudevan told PTI.

He said the company is looking at setting up a pump manufacturing unit in the outskirts of Pune and a component manufacturing unit for water purification devices in Uttrakhand.

Asked about the investment plans, he declined to comment but said the total cost of setting up two plants would be more than Rs 50 crore excluding the land and building cost.

"Land and building would not require investments as we will go for a longterm lease for facilities," Vasudevan said.

Speaking about the company's operation in India, he said, Pentair would not be participating directly in any large projects in the water treatment and purification segment, as it requires lot of construction activities, rather it will look for supplying technology and equipments to other firms which bid for these projects.
