A favourable Budget for Delhi

I am happy with the Budget since, under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, Delhi will be getting some badly-needed funds. I believe, after a quick glance at the Budget, that Delhi will be getting Rs 300 crore under this scheme for development of infrastructure, while Rs 90 crore has been allocated for various poverty alleviation programmes.

An extra fund for the Commonwealth Games will also be spent in Delhi. This will be over and above our regular allocations under the home ministry, because of Delhi's unique constitutional position. The rest of it is mostly targeted at rural areas. My hope is that we will be able to utilise the extra funds that are coming our way to give Delhi to the world-class facilities it deserves.
