AIMO awards to be presented on Sept 21

The All India Manufacturers' Organisation (AIMO) - Andhra Pradesh State Board has announced the list of Bharat Ratna Dr M Visvesvaraya Industrial Awardees 2006. The awards will be presented by Rameshwar Thakur, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, on September 21.

National Mineral Development Corporation will be awarded for best performance in large and medium scale sector and Metrochem API Pvt Ltd will bag the same award in the small scale industry sector.

ICON Accessories Pvt Ltd will bag the award for best export performance and Prathista Industries Ltd for best R&D effort. K Prasuna, proprietor of 'S' Mushroom Agritech has been adjudged best woman entrepreneur.

The outstanding industrial achievement award will be given to P Ravindra Reddy, managing director of Mtar Technologies Pvt Ltd.

The other award winners include K Ratna Chand, production in-charge of Jayanarayan & Sons Engineers for best industrial worker and N Sukumar, director of Hyderabad Chemicals Ltd, for member of the year.

AIMO is a representative body of the manufacturing sector and has over 200 members. YSR Venkat Rao, chairman of AIMO- AP State Board, said they had been interacting with the government with regard to various issues being faced by the industry.

These include shortage of power and manpower apart from entry tax on goods brought into the state.

"We have recommended withdrawal of entry tax," he said, adding that they would be actively pursuing the issue with the state government.
