AP Cabinet defers decision on land policy

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad

The state Cabinet, which met here on Friday, has deferred a decision on adopting the proposed land acquisition policy due to lack of consensus among the ministers.

With some ministers expressing reservations over certain aspects of the draft policy document, the chief minister has reportedly decided to refer the matter to a Cabinet sub-committee to make relevant changes.

The draft policy prepared recently by the government has proposed standardisation of norms for acquisition and allotment of land to private projects, including the extent depending on the capacity and nature of the project.

Among other decisions, the Cabinet has approved a proposal to increase the dearness allowance (DA) by 5.99 per cent effective January this year. The DA hike will have an additional financial outgo of Rs 1,480 crore.
