Centre to aid Mumbai sewage disposal project

| The state government will sign a memorandum of understanding to provide financial assistance worth Rs 508 crore for the Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project II (MSDP-II) with the Central government on Thursday under National Urban Renewal Mission Scheme (NURM). |
| Under the NURM norms, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) will receive 35 per cent of the project cost, 15 per cent will be contributed by the state and rest would be raised from MCGM's own resources. |
| "The state government has submitted seven projects for Mumbai's infrastructure to the Central government worth Rs 21,618 crore and since most of the projects are above Rs 1,000 crore it requires clearance from the Union Cabinet's sub-committee on urban infrastructure," the state government said. |
| Similarly, the state government has also submitted projects amounting to Rs 2,893 crore for the Pune city to the Central government for financial assistance under NURM. |
| The Centre has agreed to finance Pune Municipal Corporation's sewage treatment project worth Rs 86,00 crore and even has disbursed a grant of Rs 10.76 crore so far. |
| The Centre also has also agreed to finance Rs 20 crore river improvement project, Rs 60 crore transport improvement project and Rs 100 crore housing scheme for economically underprivileged sections of the society. |
| Besides, the state has submitted 10 infrastructure project worth Rs 503 crore for Nagpur city. The Centre has given green signal to four projects worth Rs 162 crore already. |
| The state government has also submitted infrastructure projects worth Rs 2141 crores for Nanded, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad to the Central government. |
