Chamber wants labour laws collated

What are the fixed working hours prescribed under the Indian labour laws? Can a worker be paid compensation in case he dies while returning home from the factory?

These were some of the questions raised during a workshop held in Dehra Dun today organised by the Indian Industries Association (IIA), Uttaranchal, in collaboration with the Uttaranchal Industry Department.

"With the entry of hundreds of industries in Uttaranchal, there is now an urgent need to address the issues pertaining to labour laws," said Pankaj Gupta, president of IIA, Uttaranchal.

Information pertaining to 25-26 labour laws has to be furnished. So, there was a need to club information pertaining to five to six labour laws in one single form, he added.
