Chhattisgarh declares 66 tehsils as drought-affected

The Chhattisgarh government today declared 66 tehsils in seven districts as drought-affected, official sources said.
The tehsils have been declared drought-hit on the basis of estimated output of kharif crops in these districts.Chief Minister Raman Singh also has asked the officers concerned to implement job-oriented schemes in all the tehsils.
He has asked them to implement various welfare projects of rural and farm labour on war-footing.The drought-hit tehsils are in Sarguja, Rajnandgaon, Karbeerdham, Korba, Koriya, Naryanpur and Bijapur districts.
Also, according to the revenue and disaster management officer, no revenue would be recovered from the drought-hit tehsils.
