Chhattisgarh govt gives nod to engineering park

The state government had cleared the dock for setting up an engineering park in Bhilai city of Chhattisgarh to house Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

“The government had approved the proposal for setting up engineering park in Bhilai and the work on the project would start soon,” a senior official in the industry department said. The land had also been identified for the project in Bhilai that has had Steel Authority of India Limited’s flagship entity.

The official said about 300 acres of land had been reserved for the engineering park in Hathkhoj village near Bhilai. “The land has been transferred to (the state-run) Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) that would take up the project,” he added.

 

The CSIDC would develop the park by building the basic infrastructure like road, water supply and power transmission. The corporation would invite proposals from the industry and allot the land in the park. Only small and medium industry that too manufacturing heavy machine parts would be allotted land in the park, the official said.

The land allotment process in the industrial area and park had been amended in the state policy.

According to the officials of CSIDC, the industry would get land by taking out draw instead of first come basis that was in practice till now.

“The CSIDC had sent a proposal to the state land to follow the draw pattern for the land allotment and the state government was likely to okay it,” the official said, adding that the land in engineering park would be allotted in the draw pattern.
