Chinese firms to showcase products

Close on the heels of the high-profile visit by Chinese president, Hu Jintao, more than 150 Chinese companies are showcasing their products in India between December 7 and December 9 at the Grand Hyatt Exhibition Ground, Hotel Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.
The three-day exhibition, fourth in the series, will be organised every year under the banner of 'China Products (Mumbai India) Exhibition,' and is restricted for businessmen almost two-and-a-half days.
The exhibition is meant exclusively for Chinese companies willing to establish bilateral ties with their Indian counterparts for technology, target audience and markets here.
The event gains significance as both the countries are targeting bilateral trades to touch $40 billion by 2010 from $17 billion in nine months, ending September.
The bilateral trade target of $20 billion has been set for 2008, which both the countries set to touch one year ahead, ie. by 2007.
"Chinese products have failed to earn good reputation among Indian consumers till now due to inferior quality. But, this is a good opportunity for Indian businessmen to source good technology at cheaper price," said Rajesh Bhagat, director, Worldex India Exhibition & Promotion Pvt Ltd, organiser of the exhibition.
"This is a great platform for one to source better products at competitive prices," he added.
Popularly known as the China Mumbai Expo, it will feature a diverse product portfolio, ranging from air compressors, building, construction and interiors, cosmetic and beauty products, diesel engine and diesel generator sets, electrical appliances, electronics, fabrics and garments, food and beverages, gifts and toys etc.
The event holds promise of facilitating major contracts and joint ventures between Indian and Chinese businessmen. This will also serve as a platform for the Indian industry to interact with Chinese companies and explore long-lasting business avenues in the form of representing them in India, as well as joint ventures and collaborations.
"Chinese are known for cheap products. If Indian companies adopt technology, which their Chinese counterparts are using, then we would also be able to produce products at competitive price and would be able to compete with China," Bhagat said.
The event is estimated to attract about 40,000 visitors.
