Court dismisses complaint against CM

BS Reporter New Delhi/ Dehradun

A Dehradun court today dismissed a complaint against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, related to the alleged irregularities during the Maha Kumbh mela last year in Haridwar.

Dismissing the complaint, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kunwar Amanedra Singh said the complainant had not sought permission from the Governor which is necessary under the section 197 of the CRPC.

“The complaint has been rejected but we will now move the High Court on the issue,” said J D Jain, who had filed the complaint last month.

The complaint was filed under IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and section 409 (breach of trust by a public servant) by J D Jain in the court which has posted the hearing for May 2.

The case has also taken the cognisance of a CAG report which highlighted the widespread irregularities during the kumbh mela.

The recent CAG report had put the government in tight spot by highlighting wasteful, avoidable and unauthorized expenditures to the tune of nearly Rs 223 crore in the Kumbh Mela which was organized last year with a total action plan of Rs 590 crore with centre contributing Rs 565 crore.

“We welcome the court order which gives a great relief to the government whose image is being tarnished by some vested interests at the behest of the opposition parties,” said a government official.
