Depb Not Wto Compatible, Warns Debroy

Noted economist and columnist Bibek Debroy warned exporters today that the existing DEPB (duty entitlement passbook scheme) system was incompatible to WTO standards.

Speaking at a seminar organised by Capexil, Debroy said the popular scheme for exporters was not compatible in the present format. He expressed the hope that the coming Exim Policy would correct this.
