Film on Guru Gobind Singh's closest general released

To take the heroics and exploits of one of the greatest warriors in Sikh history, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur (10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh’s closest general) to the people, and to showcase the history of the Sikhs to the world, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar (SGPC, Sri Amritsar) has for the first time produced a film on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. It is also the first time that a live character has been allowed to play the role of a Great from Sikh history.
The one-hour duration film meant for television audience was released worldwide recently. SGPC has plans to produce the film on 35 mm cinemascope having two-and-a-half hour duration. It was made with a budget of Rs 2.5 crore depicting his life history. Further, it has plans to produce telefilm on Sikhism, female foeticides, drug abuse meant for villages to increase awareness among the masses.
Accompanied by just 25 soldiers and armed with a hukamnama (edict) from his master, 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh’s closest general Banda Singh Bahadur began his journey from Nanded in Maharashtra (West India) to Punjab (in the North) to end the misery of the people under Muslim tyrant Wazir Khan, then governor of Punjab province.
Raising an army of volunteers on the way, this leader of men and master strategist decimated the mighty Mughal administrative centres one by one before finally taking over Sirhind to avenge the ‘zulm’ on the common people and torture and killing of the brave and the innocent sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
