FSL feeder service from Vizag to Colombo

Our Correspondent Visakhapatnam
Far Shipping Liner (FSL), a leading Chinese common carrier based at Singapore and Colombo, has launched a regular fortnightly feeder service between Colombo and Visakhapatnam.

"The container feeder vessel, mv Da Fu, was ceremoniously received at the Visakha Container Terminal (VCT) of Visakhapatnam Port, and seen off today after discharging the Vizag containers for her onward journey to Chennai and Colombo," said a VCT press release.

mv Da Fu, which has the carrying capacity of 580 container boxes, will make regular calls to Kolkata, Haldia, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Colombo.

FSL will also provide a trans-shipment facility at Chennai for Shipping Corporation of India's Indfex service as an alternative to Singapore. FSL will initially operate two vessels, mv Da Fu and mv Da Li, making a fortnightly call.

Far Shipping Liner will soon add one more vessel to increase frequency to a regular weekly service to Colombo, thereby addressing a long-felt need of the shippers to have better connectivity to Colombo from Visakhapatnam primarily to service their west-bound cargo," the release added.
