Ist phase of Karnataka campaign ends

Press Trust Of India Bangalore

Plunging into the campaign ahead of the first phase of the Karnataka Assembly polls on May 10, Singh vowed to give the IT capital a "new beginning" and help it regain its global image by making available required infrastructure. He said long-term planning and welfare suffered immensely during the JD(S)-BJP rule. "One does not know whether it (the regime) is a tragedy or a farce," Singh told a meeting organised by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC).

"The partners made allegations and counter-allegations against each other. The sufferers have been the people of Karnataka, the people of Bangalore. The state and the city lost their reputation across the country", he said.

Singh said the city, whose skills were respected and feared across the world, had suffered from lack of adequate infrastructure.
