J&K plans to purchase ITDC hotels

Press Trust Of India Jammu
The Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to purchase hotels owned by Indian Tourism Development Corporation in order to create infrastructure for the tourists visiting the Kashmir Valley.

"In order to have well-prepared infrastructure for meeting the requirements of tourists arriving from across the globe in this summer season, the government is planning to buy two ITDC hotels in the Kashmir Valley," a top official source told PTI.

The Centaur Hotel, located on the banks of world-famous Dal Lake, and another hotel at the world-famous health and ski resort Gulmarg, are on the list of the government for purchase, the sources said.

As nearly 800,000 tourists are expected to visit the Kashmir Valley this summer, there was a need to have more hotels, they said, adding most of the hotels are now occupied by government officials and security people.
