Karnataka convenes security meeting

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has convened a meeting of senior police officials, IT industry leaders and shopping mall owners on July 19 (Wednesday) to ensure proper coordination on security aspects in view of the recent serial blasts in Mumbai.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Kumaraswamy said that the government had taken precautionary measures to thwart any untoward incident.
"We will discuss issues relating to security at vital installations like the state and central government offices, research and development centres, IT and BT companies and at shopping complexes where the floating population is high," he added.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress continued to stall proceedings of the legislature seeking CBI inquiry into allegations of bribery against Kumaraswamy.
Expressing regret over the developments, Kumaraswamy chided the behaviour of Congress for not giving him an opportunity to reply: "I have become a suspect in the eyes of the public. I should be given an opportunity to reply in the House''.
