Monsoon arrives in Guj

The south-west monsoon on Sunday reached Gujarat covering parts of Veraval in Saurashtra region and Navsari in south Gujarat region, officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Light to moderate rains with thundershowers are likely to occur in all parts of the state in the next 24 hours, they added. "With the favourable conditions, southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Central Arabian Sea, Konkan (including Mumbai), north interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Bay of Bengal, some parts of north Arabian Sea, south Gujarat, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, entire Marathwada, some parts of south Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Gangetic West Bengal (including Kolkatta)," as statement by the IMD said. Conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of Arabian Sea, and other part of Gujarat, the statement added.
