Mysore rushes to keep date with cash transfer

With hardly a fortnight to go, officials from Mysore are stepping up efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the Centre’s project to distribute the Aadhar-based subsidy and other social benefits directly through banks to beneficiaries in the district.
Besides the 34 schemes of 14 departments of the Centre, some schemes like distribution of pensions to various categories of weaker sections, student scholarships and a few other schemes of the state government are proposed to be brought under the Aadhar-based subsidy distribution scheme from January 1, 2013.
Of the 34 schemes of the Centre, 24 relate to scholarships distributed by various Central departments and eight relate to other schemes.
Asking the officials to make all necessary preparations well before hand, e-administration Centre’s director Ravindran directed all officers concerned, including bank officials, at their joint meeting here today, to strive hard to show a 100 per cent progress in fulfilling their task for the effective implementation of the epoch-making scheme.
After reviewing preparations being made for implementation of the scheme in the district, which is among the 51 districts in the country where the scheme is being given effect, he said database digitisation, validation with Aadhar numbers and its match with the Aadhar number of the beneficiaries were important tasks to ensure the benefits reached the people concerned directly through their bank accounts. If the beneficiaries had not received the Aadhar numbers yet, the director said, the officials concerned should validate after obtaining their Aadhar numbers. Aadhar enrollment centres should also be opened in tahsildar offices and those who have not been brought under Aadhar enrollment scheme should be enrolled. This should be taken up on emergent basis. Explaining the salient features of the new scheme, he said, preparations for implementing the Centre’s scheme in Dharwad and Tumkur, besides Mysore, in Karnataka was being taken up on a war-footing. Deputy Commissioner M N Ajay Nagabhushan warned officials that they would be made directly responsible for any lapses and their indifference would not be tolerated.
“Without engaging themselves in any meeting during the next 10 days, heads of departments and district tahsildars should strive hard for the cent per cent success of the scheme. They should also obtain district NIC officials’ assistance if necessary,” he said
