Nanda, son remanded to 3-day CBI custody

| Arms dealer Suresh Nanda, accused of receiving kickbacks in defence deals, was today sent to three-day CBI custody by a court here along with his son and two others for allegedly manipulating evidence in an income tax case against him. |
| Nanda, his son Sanjeev, who is an accused in the BMW hit-and-run case, chartered accountant Bipin Shah and Deputy Director of the Income Tax Department, Ashutosh Verma, were produced before designated CBI judge IK Kochar. |
| The CBI counsel sought a 10-day custody saying the accused had to be confronted with various documents seized during the raids after their arrest. They also had to be questioned on the recovery of Rs 55 lakh from Shah's residence, he said. |
| The CBI alleged that the accused made contradictory statements during interrogation about the purpose of their meeting at a hotel in Mumbai. |
