Nift Organises Fashion Contest

The Confluence 2003, a fashion design competition held by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (Nift) here on Saturday, showcased the exquisite skills of its students.
The competition represented the brilliance of 56 young students from Nift's Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Gandhinagar chapters. Creativity was splashed on the ramp by student designers with innovative designs using all sorts of fabric including jute.
There were 11 contestants from Delhi and Mumbai chapters, ten each from Chennai and Kolkata, five each from Bangalore and Hyderabad, four contestants from Gandhinagar.

The details of award winners are as follows : Best design collection : Abhijit Khanna of Delhi for his men's wear range; most creative collection : Priyanjali Lahiri (Delhi); best contemporary styling : Gaurav Mandal (Delhi); most practical collection : Tanya Sahi (Kolkata); best garment construction : Karnati Sreedhar (Hyderabad); best men'sware : Ravi Ranjan Sahay (Delhi); best of north-east India : Suruchi Banerjee ( Delhi).
In the knitware category - best design collection : Preety Sondhi (Kolkata); most creative design collection : Gunjan Chawla (Delhi); most commercial design collection : Akanksha Dixit (Delhi). Nift deputy director general Sreevastav and its Hyderabad chapter director NVR Nathan distributed the awards.
