Now register complaints online with GIDC

This move is expected to reduce reaction time by 40-50 per cent.
In an attempt to expedite the grievance resolution process, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has launched 'GIDC Mitra', an online grievance redressal system for all its clients.
Saurabh Patel, state industries minister, said "GIDC has been trying to improve the services offered to its clients especially in the areas of e-governance. This new system would bring about more transparency in the process of grievance redressal apart from speeding it up."
Any industrialist with operations in any GIDC estate can now register his complaint, suggestion or application online, and immediately after his complaint is registered, he will receive an sms on his mobile phone with the registration number.
Arvind Agarwal, managing director, GIDC explained that there would be no paperwork involved in the entire process, everything starting from the registration of the complaint to allocating it to the concerned department to resolution of the issue would happen on the online platform.

The entire sequence of movement of the complaint would be monitored, and if there is any delay at a point, it could be zeroed in on.
While GIDC has not set any specific time-frame within which a specific grievance or application would be addressed and solved, M Sahu, principal secretary, industries and mines department said, converting the process of grievance redressal from manual to online should at least reduce response time by 40-50 per cent.
GIDC officials feel that routine complaints should not take more than three to four days to solve. The applicant gets another sms on his phone, once his complaint or application has been addressed.
Agarwal pointed out that the 'GIDC Mitra' can be used for registering applications and general suggestions, apart from filing complaints. Common issues that come to GIDC for redressal mostly relate to reconciliation of accounts and infrastructure related issues. Adit Microsys, an external agency, has developed the software for GIDC Mitra.
GIDC's earlier attempt to enable online application to buy a plot in GIDC estates, has been well accepted, according to senior officials in the department.
GIDC had launched the initiative to receive online applications for allocation of plots in 19 GIDC estates in February 2010.
"Since then, all applications for plots in these 19 estates have been online," Agarwal informed reporters here. GIDC plans to expand the initiative further to all the 181 GIDC estates.
