Odisha aviation roadmap moots air cargo hub

In a bid to woo international and domestic air carriers to run commercial operations from the city airport, the state government has prepared a 'Civil Aviation Roadmap'.

The roadmap besides dangling a slew of incentives to attract more carriers, has underscored the need for an air cargo hub and establishment of a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.

The air cargo hub is likely to be set up within the Biju Patnaik airport to begin with. Depending on viability, more such hubs are likely to be established in other locations as well.

As the city airport gets ready to resume international air operations, many flight operators, like Fly Dubai and Air Asia, are keen on running international operations from the airport.
