Railways, Ntpc Ink Pact For Captive Power

The Railways and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up captive power plants with a total capacity of 2000 mw, for the former. The 50:50 joint venture would invest about Rs 9,000 crore over the next five years to set up 300-500 mw units near the traction load centres of the Railways.
