Rs 15 cr to train unemployed youth

Karnataka has set aside Rs 15 crore to train jobless youth to take up self-employment schemes.
 
Unemployed youth, hailing from families below poverty line, and having studied up to seventh standard are eligible for the scheme.
 
"The youths will be trained at the district industrial centres for three months. The government will pay a stipendary of Rs 1,500 per month to each candidate," deputy chief minister B S Yediyurappa said.
 
The youth will also be trained in small scale industries and mechanised farming.
 
"Committees will be set up at the district level to select candidates for the training programme," he added.
