Smart City invites cos for master plan

After months of hype and anticipation, the multi-crore Smart City project in Kochi has received a shot in the arm.

Smart City headquarters, based in Dubai, has confirmed that they had invited Indian and international companies to submit proposals for Smart City's master plan. This step comes after the foundation stone unveiling in November.

Fareed Abdulrahman, executive director, Smart City, said the master plan was one of the most fundamental steps towards translating the proposed project into reality. "We have shortlisted four eminent international and national master planners and invited them to submit their proposals for the project," he said.

During the board meeting of the newly-formed company to materialise the project in December 2007, it was mentioned that the work on the master plan for the project would start by the first quarter of 2008.
