Sugar Prices Soar To Rs 40 Per Kg
Prices of sugar have more than doubled since August 1, after sugar traders stopped importing the sweetening commodity to Mumbai, to protest the 100 per cent hike in octroi rates being imposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Confirming this, Mohan Gurnani, president of the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association (BSMA) said:
