Think like the Chinese, advises Bengal governor

| India has to adopt the 'business above all' attitude of the Chinese to progress in the path of development, Viren J Shah governor of West Bengal said on Saturday. |
| Speaking at a seminar on Chinese and India Business-Sharing Experiences and Road Maps, organised by Institute if Engineering and Management, the governor said the country has lot to learn from ability to respond quickly to business opportunities, consistent and thoughtful marketing effort backed by a powerful and aggressive diaspora. |
| "Some of the traits that set apart the Chinese from other developing countries of the sub-continent are their ability to process foreign investment applications quickly, take decisions, stress on building up infrastructure so that foreign investment can take place,' he added. |
| Shah also stressed the need for explore possibilities of co-operation and sharing in various socio-economic sectors for mutual progress. |
| Earlier in the seminar, Satyajit Chakrabarti, director IEM, noted focus of business was gradually shifting from the West to developing economies in Asia. China, Hong Kong and Singapore would add 2.4 million jobs in next three years while nearly same amount of job would be lost in the US. Chakrabarti said the institute started teaching Mandarin to help students acclimatised with the environment in China and south east Asia. |
