US light crude rises to $54.59

Oil prices continue to surge in the international market, with the Nymex U.S. light crude oil for April delivery rising 70 cents to close at $54.59 a barrel, while the London Brent crude adding 77 cents to $52.84 per barrel.

In the metal segement, the COMEX gold jumped $5.30 to settle at $441.10 an ounce.
