Violence: STUs incur Rs 2.60 cr loss

The state transport undertakings (STUs) have between them have incurred loss of Rs 2.60 crore as a result of the violence that erupted after the death of film star Rajkumar.

Karnataka transport minister C Cheluvarayaswamy told reporters here on Tuesday that as many as 500 buses owned by the BMTC, KSRTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC were damaged in the violence. "More than 20 buses were set on fire in various parts of the state," he added.

The minister said that a major portion of the loss will be recovered through insurance.
