Vitan to go solo, own outlets soon

 The retail chain has been up for sale since the last two years and has had no takers due to its poor financial condition.  Vitan has been facing a cash crunch for the last few years and is not been able to face stiff competition from other retail chains like Nilgris, Foodworld and Subiksha in Chennai.  Industry sources said that the promoters of Vitan expected to sell the chain of department stores for Rs 4.5 crores. The offer has so far failed to attract any buyer.  Vishnu P Chokhani, the chairman of Vitan, told Business Standard:
