Wbseb Revenue Up, But More Work Needed

The West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB) is expected to surpass its targeted revenue collection figure by Rs100 crore in the current fiscal.

The chairman of the Board, G D Gautama, speaking to reporters at the sideline of a seminar on self-sufficiency for WBSEB by 2005, said that there has been increase in renevue collection.

Revenue is expected to touch Rs 3100 crore against a targeted figure of Rs 3,000 crore in 2002-03.

Gautama however said that the gap between revenue realisation and power purchased has to be bought down further so that WBSEB can turn profitable by 2005.

In 2001-02 WBSEB registered a total revenue earning of Rs 2,437 crore against Rs 2,137 crore in 2000-01.

 

New traiff rates declared by the West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC) and better realisation has helped WBSEB surpass its targets this year.
