Bankers See Recovery As Credit Picks Up

It may be too early to predict a boom but bankers have started seeing the first signs of a credit pick-up. On a year-on-year basis, the credit offtake during June 2001-May 2002 jumped by around 80 per cent from Rs 71,333 crore in the previous June-May period to Rs 128,357 crore.
In percentage terms, the y-o-y credit growth is 24.9 per cent, up from 16.1 per cent.
