Our Regional Bureau Chennai
Kumbakonam-based City Union Bank Limited plans to install 50 ATMs. The bank, which has introduced 'any branch banking' (ABB) in all its 12 branches in Chennai, targets to extend the facility to another 20 metropolitan and urban branches spread over different geographical locations by November 3, 2004.

The bank has also introduced intranet banking recently to a select few customers. This will also be converted into internet banking by the first week of November and will be made available to all the customers of select branches.

S Sridharan, general manager of City Union Bank Limited, said, "Both any branch banking and internet banking have been developed in-house taking all the security issues into account. We are in the process of introducing mobile banking shortly, again with in-house expertise. The ABB and internet banking will help improve our services to customers."

The bank is also in the process of implementing a core banking solution provided by Tata Consultancy Services.

At present, nine branches have been brought into the map, with about 50 additional branches to be covered before the end of this financial year.
