NIC eyes Rs 3800 cr premium income

| Kolkata-based general insurance major National Insurance Company (NICL) is all set to record a total premium income of Rs 3,800 crore in 2006-07 compared to last year's Rs 3,590 crore. |
| V Ramasaamy, chairman-cum-managing director, said, "We are targeting a total premium income of Rs 3,800 crore in 2006-07. Last year, we recorded a total premium income of around Rs 3,590 crore." |
| The provisional profit figure for 2005-06 was expected to be around Rs 150 crore, he added. |
| Meanwhile, the company was all set with the de-tariffing, which was just round the corner. |
| "We have set up an exclusive cell for dealing with the various parameters pertaining to the guidelines and tariff rates once the de-tariff set in. We have also started training our officials keeping the upcoming scenario in mind," he said. |
