Rupee falls by 46 paise against $ in early trade

The Indian rupee today depreciated by 46 paise to 48.55 against the US dollar in early trade due to better demand from importers for the greenback amid weak Asian currencies.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market (Forex), the local unit, which ended stronger by 16 paise at 48.09 yesterday, fell by 46 paise to 48.55 against the greenback at 0955 hrs.
