SBI associate banks to go on two-day strike

Press Trust of India Hyderabad

The officers of Five associate banks of SBI - State Bank of Hyderabad, Mysore, Travancore, Patiala and Bikaner and Jaipur will go on a two-day strike on April 11 and 13.

The strike is to oppose the discriminatory treatment to the officers of associate banks by the management of State Bank of India deviating for well-established practices and bilateral understandings in the matter of extending fringe benefits among others, Harsha Vardhan Madabhushi, general secretary, Associate Banks' Officers Association told reporters here today.

The officers are planning to go on strike to press their demands - justice, fair-play, equal treatment and good industrial relations, he said.

The SBI Management is deliberately withholding the legitimate benefits only because the Associate Banks' Officers are opposing the proposal of SBI to merge the associate banks with itself as an arm twisting tactic, he added.
