The Australia-based Murdoch University is joining hands with three Indian universities to attract Indian students to Australia for education and research in bio-technology.
The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed recently with Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Biotechnology, Pune.
The Murdoch University will provide the expertise in academics to the Bharati Vidyapeeth students and faculty as per this MoU and will enroll students for a four-year long Bachelor of Science course.
Prof Yianni Attikiouzel, Executive Dean, Murdoch University and Dr Shivaji Kadam, Vice Chancellor, Bharati Vidyapeeth University signed the MoU.
"The MoUs with two other Indian universities are on the cards. We will sign these in the near future," Yianni Attikiouzel told Business Standard.
Pritam Singh, the International Students Co-ordinator of Murdoch University, stated that the MoU will help Indian students to complete the first two years of the course at Bharati Vidyapeeth in Pune and later join the Murdoch University for specialisation.
Talking about future plans, Singh said, "We want to have similar tie-ups with a number of universities in India as Australian education is internationally recognised and we want more and more Indian students to avail Australian education."
